An important stock market basics rule that every investor knows about is doing the stock homework required before buying or selling any investment.  Investors need to have the right knowledge of the company in question before even thinking about their actions with that company.  You wouldn’t drive a car blindfolded; neither should you invest without knowing why.  It’s also important that all investors do the correct homework before trading stocks.  A common mistake made by investors is researching incorrect information about a company based on what their intentions are with that company.  So if an investor wishes to invest long term with the company, they learn everything they can about the company.  But if an investor wishes to invest short term on a specified catalyst that will affect a company, they must learn everything they can about that catalyst, not the company.
