I love to photograph the old pioneer cabins that are located throughout the Smoky Mountains region.  The cabin that has a near perfect setting and to me typifies the true look is John Oliver’s place.  It is located in the Cades Cove community.  I have photographed this cabin several times and even have a couple of close up pictures.  The purpose of the two close ups is to emphasize the detail and show the resourcefulness of the builder.  The stack of flat rocks supporting the back porch is functional and yet somehow artistic.  I plan to return to Cades Cove and study some of the other cabins and see if I can capture more intriguing elements.
