There have been a lot of advances in shaving in the last 30 or 40 years.Even in the last 15 years modern shaving has spread and influenced people in many parts of the world. For instance, in the 1990s, when I lived in Egypt, I met a young marketing executive who was importing Gillette’s most modern three-bladed razors into Egypt where his company was selling them as quickly as they could be brought in. And that in the land where shaving was invented 4000 years ago. (Remember those pictures of ancient Egyptian pharaohs and their people, supporting either no beard or artificial ones? That is not because the people of Egypt then didn’t grow beards. It was because they had learned how to shave them off.)Not all of these advances have been foe the good, of course. This would be true for any technical advance. But with shaving some old things can still be successfully blended and used with the best of the modern.Shaving cream is one of them.I shave with a modern Gillette disposable razor, but I use a brush I brought in Pakistan and am choosey about what shaving cream I use. Because I use a brush I can use any cream I choose. And Geo F Trumper shave cream would be hard to pass by.
