Fruit Machine history - Charles Fey the inventor

September 26th, 2008 . by admin

The first mechanical fruit machine was invented in 1895 by a San Francisco car mechanic, a Bavarian immigrant named Charles Fey. Fey’s slot machine, called the “Liberty Bell,” had three spinning reels, with diamonds, hearts, spades, and one Liberty Bell (showing a crack) painted around each reel. If the player got three bells in a row on the fruit machines, he hit the jackpot, receiving fifty cents or ten nickels.  They were quickly shopped to all of the traditional bars, and they took of big style in the USA and UK. These days you see them everywhere and its all testament mr Mr Harles Fey.
